The last wild rivers of the Alps are in danger, and in Tyrol in particular, hydroelectric power is on the verge of total expansion. Filmmaker Harry Putz explores the unspoiled high alpine Platzertal valley, which is to be dammed into a reservoir according to the plans of the Tyrolean state energy provider TIWAG. He interviews the locals who are directly affected, experts and environmentalists about the project and the expected consequences.
This documentary film deals with the planned construction of a new hydropower plant chain that is to extend over the entire Ötztal Alps. These interventions would also irrevocably change the Ötztaler Ache - the last major glacier river in Austria that has not been massively affected by energy use. And all this in the midst of the biodiversity crisis and the looming climate catastrophe.

The more we learn about these great crises of our time the more we understand the situation - do we really want to still be using old recipes?
‚Down To The Last Drop’ tells the story of the last wild rivers and unspoiled alpine areas of Tyrol and of a movement that tries to protect them.

Directed by Harry Putz.
